Welcome to yet another piece of Florida paradise, Ichetucknee Springs State Park! Located just 36 miles northwest of Gainesville, you will absolutely want to make Ichetucknee a destination to enjoy a day relaxing in its crystal clear cyan waters.
Ichetucknee is a very popular floating/tubing desintation with its incredible 6 miles of spring fed river to float down and enjoy - but if you're planning to float the entire river, be sure to really plan for this! The full float takes just over 3 hours and has a daily capacity of 750 floaters. But don't worry if you can't dedicate that much time to relaxing, you can also enjoy 2 other float runs on the river that take 45 minutes - 1 hour.
There are eight total springs within Ichetucknee Springs State Park but only ONE is a first magnitude spring: Blue Hole Spring (also known as Jug Spring). Blue Hole Spring alone produces 67 million gallons of water per day! Be sure to bring your snorkel gear and check out the fish and segrass that call this spring home. Be on the lookout for divers emerging from the limestone rocks of the spring's head. If you are a certified cave diver, you too can experience the incredible 600 feet of twisting underwater cavernous passage ways.
Not quite ready to dive through hundreds of feet of underwater cave? No problem! Spend some time out in the sun swimming in the main swimming hole, have a lovely picnic and take a hike to spot some native Florida flora and fauna of Ichetucknee Spring State Park.
If you've got some extra time, be sure to check out some of the additional 35 springs in the 'Springs Heartland of North Central Florida' that also flow into the Santa Fe River!
